Rich in tourism potential but poor in infrastructure, the capital can now look forward to advanced facilities, including a hop-on-hop-off service, at heritage sites.

The Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) has undertaken a study to examine the feasibility of launching a hop-on-hop-off service – a dedicated bus facility for visitors – to help tourists visit monuments which stand as testimonies to India’s rich architecture and culture.

“We are studying the development of infrastructure at the heritage sites. After the study, we will submit a concept plan to the Delhi Government,” INTACH chairman S K Mishra told PTI.

He said the hop-on-hop-off service will make it easier for tourists to visit these places. High on comfort and low on price, the hop-on-hop-off facility will attract many tourists to the capital, he said.

The study is covering two major routes in the capital – Humayun Tomb to Red Fort and Humayun Tomb to Qutab Minar.

“We will suggest augmentation of facilities at the sites in both the routes. We will examine ways to improve roads, shopping centres, transport and other amenities at the places,” he said.
